Evidence for Oxygen Model of Cancer
Evidence for Oxygen Model of Cancer
– Hypoxia-Inducible Factor Dynamics in Breast Cancer
Majid Ali, M.D.
On April 10, 2014, the journal Nature Reviews Cancer published an important paper providing direct support for my Oxygen Model of Cancer. Cancer cells are continually subject to various cellular stresses during their development, multiplication, and spread. The most important among these stresses are related to dysfunctional oxygen conditions within them as well as in their micro-environment.
The Nature Reviews Cancer article concerned in triple-negative breast cancer. It reported that a spliced form of a protein called X-box-binding protein 1 (XBP1S) is activated as part of the unfolded protein response (UPR) and disrupts transcriptional network of hypoxia-inducible factor 1a (HIF1a). This adds to a large body of evidence I presented in my two-volume cancer book in which I presented Oxygen Model of Cancer at length.
