Diabetes Reversal – Case Study 2 Diabetes Reversal With Control of Hyperinsulinism
Majid Ali, M.D.
This article describes a case of reversal of diabetes Type 2 with an integrative protocol based on the Oxygen Model of Insulin Toxicity in a 75-year-old woman. She was 5′ 7″ in height, weighed 192 lbs., and presented with mold and pollen allergy, sinusitis, myalgia, IBS, chronic fatigue, and headache. Seven years previously she had received chemotherapy for lymphoma and two years later she had two coronary artery stents inserted. She was told to have early stages of kidney failure.
Diagnoses of hyperinsulinism and diabetes Type 2 were made with three hour insulin and glucose profiles during initial evaluation at the Institute (see Table below). Control of hyperinsulinism and reversal of diabetes was achieved in four years (data presented in the table below.
Her A1c values were as follows: 5.8% at initial presentation and 5.5% during the following four years.

Oxygen Model of Insulin Toxicity
I proposed my Oxygen Model of Insulin Toxicity as a unifying model that recognizes disturbances of oxygen functions as the fundamental commonality of all elements that cause dysfunctional insulin signaling, hyperinsulinism (excess insulin), insulin resistance (inability of the insulin receptor to respond to insulin), and the biochemical and clinical consequences of insulin dysfunction.
